Famous actor Gurcharan Singh Channi passed away. A few days ago he was found to be Corona positive. After which he was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Mohali. He breathed his last here. After the news of his death, there has been a wave of mourning in the Punjabi film industry. Gurcharan Singh Channi breathed his last on 20 May 2021.
Known for his lack of community night theater. Channi was popular for visiting local hospitals and making patients happy with his performance team. But sadly, due to the ongoing epidemic in the world. The man who made everyone laugh died alone in a hospital bed.
Gurcharan Singh Channi was the former head of the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academic. And a director of the Seva Drama Reporter Company. He has been associated with theater for the last four decades. He has also worked in small screen films.
In 2016, the father-son duo got into legal trouble for allegedly attacking a police checkpoint. Charges were framed against him in 2018.
At last He was an alumnus of the Indian Theater Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh, National School of Drama, New Delhi as well as the Indian Television Institute. Gurcharan Singh Channi has worked in the films ‘Punjab 1984’ and “Shareek”.
